In the center of our Restaurant you can see the Birds Birds Birds chandelier designed by Ingo Maurer. It was designed in 1992.
Its 21 halogen bulbs are handmade, provided with goose feathers and attached to the support by a fine brass thread. The wire and the striking red cable seem to be the only elements that prevent these bulbs with wings from taking flight.
Son of a fisherman, Ingo Maurer (age 86) grew up on the Reichenau Island on Lake Constance with four brothers. After an apprenticeship as a typographer, he studied graphic design in Munich, Germany.
Ingo Maurer created many objects using LED. In addition to the design of lamps for series production, it creates and plans light installations for public or private spaces.
